PMCS Group, a trusted provider of architectural and engineering services, is currently seeking a talented Senior Design Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee multiple projects, with a focus on seismic, critical repair, and retrofit projects, for our client, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).


Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 14 years of full-time paid professional experience managing facilities design or coordinating capital projects, including design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities.
  • 4 years of experience specifically in the design, planning, and construction of educational facilities or similar public agencies.
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple projects, focusing on seismic, critical repair, and retrofit projects for LAUSD.
  • Supervise a team of design professionals through the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with LAUSD standards and guidelines.
  • Manage the design process for A&E services, ensuring alignment with functional, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with LAUSD administrators and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Select architectural firms based on qualifications and project requirements.
  • Provide clear direction to architects regarding goals, objectives, standards, schedules, and budgets.
  • Review design changes to maintain project budget compliance.
  • Monitor project planning and design status, providing regular updates and recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
