Position Summary:

The Intake Shift Coordinator assists the Director of Admissions with the administrative oversight and direction of the hospital's Admissions Department. This position provides support to a staff of specialists in the provision of patient access to care and behavioral health assessment services, including call management, clinical evaluations for level of care, crisis intervention, admissions and referrals. This position interfaces closely with the Hospital's medical staff, Nursing Staff, Department Leaders, and Administration, as well as external referring agencies and payers. Incumbent will assists in the development and management of processes related to efficient and smooth admission processes. You will assist in interviewing and hiring new staff, staff supervision, clinical case consultation, coordination, and organization of day-to-day activities that will enhance effectiveness of the Admissions Department and security to ensure smooth admissions processing for referral sources, families, staff and patients.

Key Accountabilities/Duties:

Respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries seeking mental health care or information about mental health related services. Facilitate callers to optimal level of care or resources. Conduct clinical assessments utilizing appropriate forms and in a timely manner. Document calls and related information on Intake Call form and enter data. Review programs periodically to stay abreast of services provided. Support facility internal and external customer service standards. Coordinate, prioritize and distribute duties of assessment counselors. Oversee the work flow as produced by assessment counselors. Collaborate with nursing supervisor to manage bed movements. Consistently engages and interacts with our patients and their families by using the treatment principles of Trauma Responsive Care, as demonstrated by the following: 1. A basic recognition of the characteristic symptoms resulting from exposure to trauma, 2. Having an understanding of and sensitivity to the triggers of trauma and trauma re-enactment, 3. Incorporating relevant skill sets into daily interactions with patients and families, and 4. Participates in continuing education on Trauma Responsive Care and Recovery. Precept new assessment counselors as necessary. Assist Director in duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field. LCSW, or BA RN preferred. A minimum of 1-3 years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable. Admissions experience preferred. Working knowledge of mental illness/chemical dependency and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities. A minimum of 2 years of managing a professional/clinical team and responsible for staffing, budget, and process improvements.
