ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential job functions includeprovision, execution, and clean-up of complex LGTF test programs, in addition to the troubleshooting and repair of LGTF test asset equipment. Operate and program various Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines and proficiency on various manual machines, engine lathes and Bridgeport type mills. Perform aircraft brake, tire and wheel, and landing gear component build up and tear down to support test activities. Perform sheet metal work and operate milling machines, lathes, welders, and other related shop machines. Install, troubleshoot, and repair test hardware and test equipment including fasteners, hydraulics, hoses, pumps, and fittings. Operate and maintain all LGTF test equipment including: ” Dynamometer, Small Large Baldwin Compression Tester, Drop Towers, ” Dynamometer, ” Dynamometer, i Dynamometer, Clutch Friction Machine, Fatigue Test Machine, Tire Force and wear machines, tensile test machines, hydraulic and electrical systems (pumps, regulators, hosing, etc.), crane and hoist operations, machine shop operations, refrigeration systems, and Burst Pit.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Work independently to resolve routine and moderately difficult tasks with occasional support and guidance from senior level personnel. Perform aircraft brake, tire and wheel, and landing gear component build up and tear down to support LGTF test activities. Operate and maintain various LGTF test systems/equipment to include: ", " internal, ", and " Dynamometers, Tire Force Machine, Large and Small Baldwin Compression Test Machines, Drop Towers, Clutch Friction Machine, Fatigue Test Machine, Tensile Test Machines, hydraulic and electrical systems (pumps, regulators, hosing, etc.), crane/hoist operations, machine shop operations, refrigeration systems, and Burst Pit operations. Troubleshoot and repair associated test machine, fixture, and test asset issues/problems. Provision, execute, and clean-up complex test programs. Set-up, operate, and execute LabVIEW controlled test programs to include data acquisition, data presentation, data assessment, and generating data-summary reports. Safely handle fuels, hydraulic fluid, and other aerospace related chemicals. Use CAD/CAM and read/interpret blueprints to diagnose and repair test equipment. Fabricate and install test fixtures, equipment, and test articles under oversight from Senior level technicians. Ability to follow detailed work instructions for servicing aircraft components.

OTHER DUTIES:  Other duties include Mechanical fabrication, installation, and test set-up of test fixtures and test assets. Create and maintain machine operating instructions to include quality review of machine work instructions which specify periodic maintenance actions for LGTF test equipment. Collect test data and prepare technical summaries and electronic correspondence. Proficiency in CAD/CAM and reading blueprints to fabricate complex test fixtures to precise specification to include design, fabrication, modification and installation of mechanical systems/sub-systems, hydraulics, hoses, pumps, and fittings. Compliance with OHSA regulations regarding safe LGTF shop operations and safe handling of liquid nitrogen, lubricants, fuels, hydraulic fluid, and other aerospace related chemicals. Must be knowledgeable and have experience with standard and high voltage/amperage electrical motors and circuits -volt, -volt, -volt, volt, and 0 volt - 3 phase systems).

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Technical experience in support of DoD and/or test operations facility; Can be a graduate of technical training beyond high school (such as Military Training) in lieu of direct DoD and/or test operations experience. Mechanical aptitude and proven abilities are required. Competency in understanding schematics from technical data, CAD/CAM programs, blueprints, drawings, electrical diagrams, and writing/editing work instructions and procedures is required. Competency in Microsoft Office products is required. Duties are primarily performed in an environmentally controlled test facility. Must be capable of performing required tasks while using wide variations of physical effort such as sitting, walking, standing, crawling, climbing, or remaining in awkward, sometimes strained, positions for extended periods of time.

Previous experience with operating forklifts, hoists and cranes is a plus. High School Diploma or GED is required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Additional experience in providing supervisory technical oversight of lower-level mechanical specialists performing similar test activities is desirable. Strong mechanical aptitude and proven abilities are required. Competency in understanding schematics from technical data, CAD/CAM programs, blueprints, drawings, electrical diagrams, and writing/editing work instructions and procedures is required. Competency in Microsoft Office products is required.

Supports E-OMS operational objectives and is required to comply with company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies. May be required to handle hazardous materials and/or collect hazardous waste. Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Performing required tasks and supporting mission requirements in a variety of environmental conditions both inside and outside. Duties are primarily performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be capable of performing required tasks while using wide variations of physical effort such as sitting, walking, standing, crawling, climbing, or remaining in awkward, sometimes strained positions for extended periods of time.
