GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Performance Engineer will be involved in various analysis tasks of turbomachinery, rocket engine components, and product/process improvements. Actively participates in the engineering discipline's technical development and mentors and oversees technical content of junior engineers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Conceptual design and optimization of turbomachinery performance cycles (air breathing engines, rocket turbopumps, and industrial gas turbines) using NPSS and GatesCycle modeling codes. Close coordination with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) on design limits of components related to turbomachinery performance. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified turbomachinery designs. Documents changes through a formal engineering change notification process. Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead). Other job duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
