The Role

Responsible to lead the Medical Education and Corporate Funding function and ensure development and execution of the overall independent medical education grants strategy and operations across Genmab therapeutic areas and to serve as lead for initial review of all corporate funding requests, ensuring close oversight and coordination of GMA funded sponsorship opportunities. Role will lead the execution of the Medical Affairs grant and corporate funding system and processes; design and execute strategic plans with key cross-functional teams with emphasis on collaboration, and work across boundaries to successfully meet objectives. In this role, he/she will work closely with internal partners, external associations and requesting organizations, and key stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role that requires weekly onsite presence in Princeton, NJ.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the independent medical education (IME) function and ensure successful development and execution of the annual medical education strategy that leverages innovation, program impact, collaboration, business/therapeutic area alignment, and compliance to address the identified educational objectives for healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Lead and manage all corporate funding requests inclusive of corporate memberships and medical meeting sponsorships with a primary focus on all GMA funded sponsorship opportunities, including development of the GMA sponsorship annual strategy and coordination and execution of all program support.
  • Lead and manage all Grants for Scientific Advancement (GSA) requests pertaining to fellowships, third-party investigator awards, closed scientific meetings and other related requests, coordinating cross-functionally with relevant leads to support annual strategies and budget, with close oversight and communications for GMA funded GSAs.
  • Collaborate with GMA leadership and MA Strategy Lead across all therapeutic areas and businesses (translational medicine, discovery, etc.) to identify opportunities for medical education, grants for scientific advancement and sponsorship support and ensure understanding of the value/impact of such support, with a focus on long-term planning.
  • Manage medical education, grants for scientific advancement, and sponsorship budget and long-term financial planning across all TAs.
  • Lead all operations pertaining to Medical Education and Corporate Funding requests including system enhancement, vendor management, customer inquiry processes, contracting, financials/reconciliations and outcomes/program assessments and related reporting for all supported programs (congress symposia, expert forums, etc.).
  • Lead monthly/quarterly cross-functional Grant Review Committees and Corporate Funding Committees to ensure timely and well documented review of all funding requests.
  • Serve as an expert resource for medical education strategy, adult-learning principles, and effective educational design; provide clinical and scientific advice, adult education expertise, and overall guidance regarding the quality and integrity of medical education grant proposals to encourage the highest quality funding decisions.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for grants and sponsorships for Global Medical Affairs.
  • Identify innovative strategies to improve HCP knowledge, competence, and performance gaps to improve patient health outcomes.
  • Lead team of managers and/or associate directors in their review/assessment of funding requests and in the development and execution of medical education and sponsorship strategy.
  • Act as the main point of contact with external organizations and internal stakeholders to identify healthcare gaps and performance/quality improvement opportunities for Genmab support.
  • Develop strategies and tactics that follow local, regional, and national compliance and regulatory guidelines inclusive of related medical education policies and procedures that may impact Genmab strategy and support (e.g., provider accreditation status changes via the ACCME, government programs such as MACRA/MIPS that may affect IME).
  • Work with stakeholders and collaborative partner organizations/alliance counterparts to develop individual global/regional plans for the US, EU, and Japan
  • Manages all functional area SOPs and related procedural documents including GMA required department dossiers and related deliverables.
  • Develops and executes cross-functional training pertaining to medical education and sponsorship’s function, inclusive of GRC and CRC voter training and related materials and presents to other functions to build awareness and understanding of function.
  • Leads medical education and sponsorship training/mentor/fellowship/internship programs.  


Requirements


Moreover, you meet the following professional requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific discipline required with at least 7 or more years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • A minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical grant program experience.
  • Certified in Healthcare Continuing Medical Education Professional (CHCP) preferred
  • Expert knowledge of OIG, AMA, ACCME, and PhRMA guidelines.
  • Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication.
  • Understands the medical, legal, and compliance environment of medical education with the ability to adjust strategy and approach to remain compliant.
  • Well organized; ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional work environment.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; asks questions and problem solves, when appropriate, to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Possesses empathy and compassion; embraces and welcomes diverse opinions and perspectives.
