The Inclusive Excellence in STEM Initiatives Director supports the ongoing and evolving OAA investments in increasing pathways to STEM fields and building inclusive environments that optimize experiences of equity among faculty and across all learners with particular attention to the experiences of those who are underrepresented in STEM fields. The director will provide monitoring and coordination across existing and future projects the Office of Academic Affairs is supporting including for example the NSF funded ADVANCE Institutional partnership grant, STEM Intersectional Equity in Departments (SIEDS): A Partnership for Inclusive Work Cultures; Howard Hughes Medical Institute funded the Inclusive Path Forward Program; Alfred P. Sloan funded Sloan Center for Systemic Change; NSF funded Louis Stokes New STEM Pathways and Research Alliance: Ohio LSAMP program. Collectively, these programs are representative of the institution’s investments in improved learner success in STEM fields and retention of faculty through improved, equitable experiences.

Central to this role, the Inclusive Excellence in STEM Initiatives Director will oversee and manage the daily operations of the OSU ADVANCE Partnership , STEM Intersectional Equity in Departments (SIEDS): A Partnership for Inclusive Work Cultures. The director will manage the partnership with our collaborating institutions and coordinate and oversee our internal working groups to provide deliverables for the project grant.

In addition, this role will coordinate and report data, project implementation and outcomes across projects OAA invests in to advance pathways and success in STEM for faculty and all learners. Build and maintain active partnerships with campus partners (Undergraduate Education, Graduate School, colleges with STEM-focused departments, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and Kirwan Institute) on data collection in academic and administrative units on the progress across projects.

The Inclusive Excellence in STEM Initiatives Director will ensure these projects are coordinating to leverage best outcomes through quality cross project engagement, planning, schedule managing, and progress reporting. This position will identify opportunities for improvements and effectiveness across projects.

This position reports to the Senior Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence and collaborates across initiatives to establish high impact across programs. The candidate will represent OSU at local and national meetings, prepare annual reports, and convene internal work groups

Required:

Advanced degree in STEM or related field. 5 years of relevant experience The ideal candidate will possess project management experience,  Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Excellent relationship building skills. Detail-oriented and efficient proactive problem solver. Experiences working on a team and communicating and collaborating with team members and a wide variety of clients on projects. Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and timelines and complete tasks within established project due dates. Experience working within a complex higher education environment, professional working experience in STEM/ STEM education with demonstrated knowledge of the experiences of women and underrepresented minorities in these fields. Experience in higher education, or not for profit institutions affiliated with STEM education. Ability to travel if necessary. Skills: PC, MAC, desktop software, web applications.

Desired Qualifications:

PhD in STEM related discipline. Significant experience managing programs or services that promote inclusion in STEM. Experience in advancing inclusive cultures in higher education. Knowledge of the theory and research related to advancing URM learners and faculty. Experience in managing a grant project and communicating grant outcomes.
