What You Will Do As an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator (EPC), you will report directly to the Facility Preparedness first line manager, within the Emergency Preparedness group at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). EPCs are deployed to support Facility Operations Directors (FODs) with the implementation of DOE's Comprehensive Emergency Management System Order directives and LANL's Emergency Management programmatic requirements. EPCs will work with FOD and programmatic customers to tailor facility / area-specific implementation of requirements.This position offers a unique combination of office work and field interactions EPC responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) drill or exercise planning and documentation of results, arranging assembly area locations and supplies, leading workforce protective action drills, identifying areas of improvement and development of sustainable corrective actions, developing and revising facility-specific building emergency procedures, etc. What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements Knowledge of emergency management practices, including preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation strategies Strong verbal and written communications skills with an emphasis on consistency and attention to detail Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner at all levels, including in a team atmosphere. Must be willing and able to serve in a qualified position within the Emergency Operations Center for response activations, drills, and exercises during and outside of normal work hours. Education/Experience: This position requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: Employment Familiarity with DOE Order 151.1D, Comprehensive Emergency Management System. Demonstrated ability in project management and prioritization of tasks. Familiarity with Los Alamos National Laboratory operations and structure. Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center environment. Work Environment: Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management. Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
