Position:
The College of Business and Economics invites applications for a non-tenure track, 9-month Professor of Practice position in the Department of Finance beginning August 2024.
This position is specifically for a Professor of Practice in the field of financial planning/ wealth management. This is a significant opportunity to grow and develop the Department of Finance Financial Planning program.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics and/ or a designated CFP® professional. The candidate must have a minimum of eight years working full time as a professional financial planner, be active in the professional financial planning community (e.g., an FPA member), have leadership experience in a financial planning firm, and high-level business communication skills. The candidate must possess a passion for teaching and engagement in the financial planning field. Teaching experience is preferred.

The candidate must also be committed to meeting Towson’s mission by serving the department, college, and university.

Faculty in the College of Business and Economics are annually reviewed by peers, which is an essential feature of effective teaching. Being flexible to the scheduling needs of the department is required. The position calls for the person hired to be able to teach at all campuses where Towson University class are offered including the main campus and the TU Northeast (TUNE) campus in Harford County as needed. The position may require after hours and/ or off-campus activities periodically.

Responsibilities:
A teaching load of 21 (face-to-face or other) credit hours per academic year is required. The faculty will provide classroom instruction, prepare for courses, continuously improve subject matter competence, create teaching and learning materials, create new courses as needed, and advise students in their academic progress. The faculty will be responsible for maintaining the program CFP designation, developing an advisory board, and leveraging community contacts to expand and develop the existing program through regular interactions. The faculty will also be responsible for creating opportunities for students by leading and organizing the department’s annual Wealth Management Competition. Once hired, retaining professional qualification requires evidence of continuous learning during the most recent five-year period. Professor of Practice who remain employed in their area of expertise are deemed to be maintaining currency. Additional responsibilities include advising of majors/minors and actively serving on committees at the department, CBE, and/ or University levels.
 
College of Business and Economics:
The college is accredited by AACSB for both its business and accounting programs. It conducts undergraduate business programs with majors/concentrations in an array of business fields and offers a growing number of graduate programs. The college plays a prominent role in providing leadership to local/regional firms, governments, and non-profit organizations. The college also has affiliated business programs in other countries.
