We are actively looking for a Junior to Mid level Coastal Engineer to join our Seattle office. As part of the Coastal Group, the Coastal Engineer plans and designs for urban waterfront and coastal structures projects, including marinas, marine terminals, urban waterfront developments and cruise ship facilities; wetland restoration, dredging, shore protection structures, and flood walls.

Duties and responsibilities:

Designs construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models. Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data. Supports the analysis of project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs. Creates feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data. Develops construction specifications, plans, and schedules to produce engineering documents. Researches and assists in complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions. Successfully support ongoing Coastal / Water practice through contacts and business development efforts working with EPA, Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, Local Environmental agencies, as well as private sector clients Implementing scientific and regulatory tasks for projects to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and policies, including NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act

Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, Ocean or Coastal Engineering; required 3 to 5 years of experience; required Professional Engineer (AICP, PP, PG, etc.) licensure in Washington or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire; required Software experience: Proficient in AutoCADMicrostation, Civil3D, or SWMM proficiency; preferredCoastal modeling software; preferred Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)  Availability and willingness to travel All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171 Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire 

Base salary range:   

$104,400 to $127,600 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description. 

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Washington markets.

Working conditions:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
