Located on a 27-acre wooded campus, Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a peaceful, therapeutic environment for patients and families. Fairmount is a major regional resource for children, adolescents and adults who have psychiatric and behavioral problems as well as alcohol and drug dependency needs. The spacious campus borders Fairmount Park in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. With one of the leading alcohol and drug detox and rehab programs in Philadelphia, Fairmount is the provider of choice for individuals requiring specialized co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. We are currently seeking a full-time Creative Arts/Expressive Therapist to join our team .

The Creative Arts/Expressive Therapist  will provide age and developmentally appropriate counseling and case management services using a combination of activities, creative arts modalities, and talk therapy, while also being responsible for monitoring and delivering high quality services to co-occuring diagnosed/chemically dependent patients. 

This individual will help patients develop safety/crisis plans, and establish behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Fairmount Behavioral Health System.

Primary responsibilities include: coordination of the full continuum of care; assessment and documentation of clinical needs; implementing and delivering individual, group therapy and educational services; preparation of PCPC reports. The provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu; crisis intervention; and full participation with the multidisciplinary team toward meeting a patient’s treatment plan objectives. Discharge planning and referrals to community resources as required.

Qualifications Master’s degree with a major in art therapy, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or other related field which includes a practicum in a health and human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. Clinical/Social Work licensure in commonwealth of Pennsylvania is preferred. Must possess knowledge of co-occurring disorders / chemical dependency treatment approaches, motivational interviewing, 12 Step Program recovery philosophies, basic counseling group processes, therapeutic relationships, age-specific growth and developmental conditions impacting treatment, limit setting and behavior management, crisis prevention and intervention techniques, understanding of funding sources, community resources, and discharge planning. Must be able to work a 40 hour a week schedule, i.e., either a 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. shift including one weekend day each week.
