PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Markets crops inputs, technical services and finance programs. Supervises applicators to ensure work meets customer expectations. May also operates commercial sprayer or floater for the purpose of applying crop inputs as needed.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Lead and develop Applicators ensuring their schedule and performance meets the needs of customers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Implements marketing plans and develops sales strategies that generate profitable sales in the assigned territory.
Utilizes target marketing and professional sales techniques, including the FS sales interview road map, cropping programs, emphasis of appropriate features and benefits, and contact management system when calling on patrons and prospects.
Develops territory and competitive analysis of the marketplace and the competition.
Provides value-added agronomic products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects.
Schedules product delivery and application for the team.
Conducts regular patron meetings on product and technical information
Conducts soil testing, crop scouting and other programs, in addition to following up with customer service inquiries.
Ensures the credit worthiness of customers, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
Promotes the use of credit programs and collects for sales.
Ensures Applicator team applies crop production inputs according to recommendations and records data according to regulations and standards.
Oversees material handling set up, blending, storage, transport and application equipment for blending and delivery of products.
Responisble for the Applicators operation of sprayers, floaters, single or tandem axle trucks and other equipment to meet company and DOT standards.
Performs and records daily safety checks of assigned vehicle(s) and associated equipment by conducting pre-trip inspections, such as checking fuel and oil levels, inspecting tires, lights, and brakes.
Loads and unloads containers, pallets, or materials and products, safely on/off trucks, trailers, or railcars.
Ensures products are evenly balanced and distributed on trucks and trailers and proper axle weight limits are met.
Responsible for the inventory control and turns in application records on a daily basis. Assures all product is accounted for with either an invoice or delivery ticket.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image.
Ensures field signs are displayed on all customers’ fields to promote FS products.
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned, including work as Applicator as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in agriculture, marketing, or business, or the equivalent thereof, and 2 years or more of related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of production agriculture.
Demonstrated GROWMARK essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
Prefer an understanding of GROWMARK agronomy products, services, and programs.
Must have or obtain and maintain a CDL license with required endorsements, a satisfactory driving record and valid medical card.
Must be able to obtain and maintain professional certifications associated with the agronomy industry.
Must hold and maintain, or have the ability to obtain, all required pesticide or fertilizer applicator licenses or certifications in states where crop production inputs are applied. Responsible for renewing licenses or certifications as required and reporting status of licenses or certifications to the Location Manager.
Ability and willingness to work hours extended hours during peak seasons.
