Assistant Program Manager, Residential Services

Hope For Youth's Residential Services Department provides community based, trauma informed, youth and family driven care to adolescents and young adults in Nassau and Suffolk County. Serving youth from varying points of entry with the child welfare system, juvenile justice system, and runaway and homeless youth/young adults, the opportunities to alter the trajectory for youth in need are abundant. Youth are supported 24/7 by a team of multi-disciplinary professionals, paraprofessionals, and agency administration that consistently meets standards for accreditation and licensing regulations.

Assistant Program Managers are a vital part of the Residential team. The role requires flexibility, organization and time management skills, and a desire to impact the lives of youth. The Assistant Program Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the residential site including direct supervision of youth, providing supportive supervision to staff, orchestrating staff meetings in collaboration with program manager, and meeting the various needs of youth while in placement. Applicants with personal lived experience are welcome and encouraged to join our team and support our mission to continually improve programming.

To be a successful assistant program manager you must be ready, able, and willing to do the following always:

  1. Function within the policies and procedures as outlined in the program practice guide and employee manual.
  2. Manage the day-to-day activity of the program
  3. Schedule staff, manage outages and arrange for coverage, etc.
  4. Supervise and support residents using the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model without the need for therapeutic holds and to ensure staff utilization of TCI through coaching and modeling
  5. Achieves positive outcomes for residents (shared by unit team)
  6. Provide supervisees with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to succeed
  7. Adhere to state regulations and applicable code of conduct
  8. Manage projects and attend meetings as assigned
  9. Perform other work necessary to meet the needs and requirements of the clients, the program, Hope For Youth, oversight agency and any other regulatory obligations

How you will generally spend your time in this job:

  • 50% supporting youth, interacting with youth, working directly with staff/youth (including documentation)
  • 30% payroll, shift assignments, staff scheduling, coordinating program/resident needs
  • 20% supporting staff through supervision, meetings, etc.

Minimum qualifications to have and maintain:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. NYS driver's license in good standing
  3. Physical Ability to:
  • work flexible schedule
  • Lift/move up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Escort/ transport residents into the community and to appointment to service providers as needed
  • Physically restrain a child or youth during a crisis (TCI Training)
  • Read/write reports and log entries, repetitive wrist/finger movements
  • Operate a motor vehicle carrying up to ten (10) children and youth

This full-time opportunity is being offered at a pay range of $25.50-$28.00 Hourly.
