Summary:
- Must be able to diagnose electrical problems in an efficient manner.
- Explain what the best solution in would be repairing the problem to all involved.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, on vessels using hand tools and power tools.
- Lead a group of electricians and schedule them, explain work/problem solve.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure
- compliance with classification society requirements.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate and correct a failure.
- Construct and fabricate parts, repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools, power tools and specifications.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as multimeters, and megger testers to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Advise on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
- Provide preliminary sketches and list materials.
- Train and instruct workers to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Provide information on job status and recommendations to improve quality and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of Marine Electrical Trade: Knowledge of A.C. Circuits, Single and Three Phase, up to 480 volts.
- Knowledge of D.C. Circuits, Batteries, Alternators, Inverters
- Control (Relay) Logic A.C. and D.C.
- Basic Electronics, including diodes, LED’s, resistance, capacitance
- Wiring skills; cable sizing and runs on cable tray, panel wiring to rotary switches, breakers, panel meters, current transformers, and use of ducting,
- conduit as needed.
- Trouble shooting: Ability to diagnose and rectify many and varied types of equipment faults using boat drawings if there are any or logic deduction.
- Ability to layout and fabricate panels and mounting brackets
