Join us at Malcolm X Academy Elementary School as a Behavior Support Specialist, where you'll play a vital role in providing targeted interventions to students with complex behavioral needs.

As a Behavior Support Specialist at Malcolm X Academy in San Francisco, CA , you will be responsible for collaborating with the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team to develop systems and provide comprehensive care in the Wellness Center. This will include facilitating drop-in sessions, teaching coping skills, creating a calming environment, and conducting small group sessions. The role involves overseeing student progress on behavior and performance, implementing behavior intervention programs for specific students, and fulfilling assigned administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to assess and implement specialized student plans (IEP, BIP, 504) Provide behavioral intervention to decrease disruptive or harmful behaviors and promote positive alternatives Support Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) through classroom- and school-wide training and coaching Coach staff to enhance their skills and capacity Monitor and support the implementation of behavior intervention plans Collect and maintain data on student progress and behavior through formal documentation Lead academic, social skill-building, and recreational activities for students Engage families to increase their involvement in school Participate in professional learning communities for ongoing development and support

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work / Psychology / Counseling Ability and willingness to work independently in the office, at school sites, and at times in the community Must be at least 21 years of age Own vehicle, Valid California driver's license and insurability with Seneca's automobile policy TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements Must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Preferred:

4 years experience working with children with emotional disturbance and/or who exhibit extremely challenging behaviors Experience providing crisis assessment, management, and interventions Strong organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.

Schedule

School based schedule:Monday to Friday: 8 AM- 4:30 PM5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days

Benefits
