Job Title: School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Required Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program
  • Illinois State Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Speech-Language Pathologist (Non-Teaching) Endorsement from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) (preferred but not required for new graduates who are completing their Clinical Fellowship Year)
  • Clinical Fellowship (CF) Candidates will be considered and provided with supervision

Job Summary:

In this role, youll provide critical support to students with communication and language challenges, enabling them to reach their fullest potential. The ideal candidate is dedicated to working in a collaborative educational environment and has experience with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and therapy services for children of all ages.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders in students
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs
  • Provide direct therapy to students, individually and in small groups, to address speech and language goals
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support each students educational progress
  • Document and monitor student progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing insights on speech and language goals and progress
  • Educate school staff and families on strategies to reinforce speech and language development
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of speech-language pathology practices within a school setting
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, families, and school staff
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and documentation requirements
  • Strong organizational skills for maintaining detailed records and reports
  • Positive, student-centered approach with a commitment to improving student outcomes
