This position reports tothe Governance & Compliance Manager in the IT Division.The ITSecurity Analyst supports the VDOT Information Security mission byimplementing resultsoriented strategic approaches plans programsand procedures.

The Virginia Departmentof Transportation is seeking to fill the Information Technology(IT) Security Analyst position. This position reports to theGovernance & Compliance Manager in the IT Division.

The IT SecurityAnalyst supports the VDOT Information Security mission byimplementing resultsoriented strategic approaches plans programsand procedures. This position will focus on security analysis forour procurement teams. They will ensure that Commonwealth ofVirginia Information Security Policies and Standards are followedby the Agency. The broad areas of responsibility for this positioninclude identity and access management System and servicesacquisition review IT risk management business continuity and ITdisaster recovery planning security awareness education andtraining security vulnerability management and security incidentmanagement.

Responsibilities:

Documents processes and scriptnarratives/executive summaries.

Create Business focused documentation forcirculation among readers with various technicalunderstanding.

Shareinsight of Information security and IT procurement approaches andimplementation methodologies

Research and provide written guidance onalignment with security policies/standards.

Perform tasks related to Security Complianceand Control Evaluation Risk analysis and procurementrecommendations.

Collaborate with Business areas and cross functional ProcurementAnalysts or Enterprise Architects to fully understand businessneeds and provide strategic consultation on security and riskaverseacquisition.

Partnerwith architects other technical team members to develop roadmapsand strategies to support agency KPIs

Consult with teams as needed on initiativesand provide tactical direction as well as provide considerations onlegacy solutions as they are replaced.

Qualifications:

Comprehensiveknowledge of Information Security principles; including informationsecurity trends emerging technologies bestpractices controls modelsarchitecture etc.

Practical experience with identity and access management servicesand software acquisition or procurement IT risk management businesscontinuity and IT disaster recovery planning security awarenesseducation and training security vulnerability management andsecurity incident management.

Familiarity with the Commonwealth ofVirginias Information Security Standards and/or the NationalInstitute of Standards and Technology Publication 80053.

Able to communicateeffectively in writing and orally exercise judgment interpret lawsand policies and maintain effective working relationships with awide variety of individuals in both the public and privatesectors.

Experience inmonitoring IT environments for compliance with information securityarchitecture policies and standards.

Ability to provide input and securitydirection for future designs information security capabilities andstrategic technology alternatives.

Excellent written and oral communication andpresentation skills (possessing the ability to break down complextechnical terms into everyday language).

Demonstrated ability to work with broadcrosssection of personnel including all levels of management andexternal entities (such as other agencies) consultants and serviceproviders to explain security measures and collaborate anddisseminate security related information in partnership with theOffice of Information Security.

Work experience in a fastpaced environmentand acquire new skills/knowledge to meet customer needs.
