PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


• Advise the coordinators on exceptional pre- and post-research award administration issues providing options and solutions. Verify research funding proposals are complete, accurate and adhere to University and sponsor guidelines and procedures. Identify non-standard issues associated with grant applications and awards and escalate to the Manager for review and serve as the main point of contact for Research Funds on post-award financial issues.
• Verify and approve all Notices of Award and/or Change for internal, and specified external, research funding of $25,000 or lower; verify and ensure that all the supporting documentation for the grant is complete while identifying any potential risks.
• Verify and review all Notices of Award and/or Change related to external funding and address any outstanding concerns or issues prior to Manager’s approval. 
• Liaise with external funding agencies with regards to application process, guidelines, policies and financial administration of awards. 
• Oversee the internal funding programs offered by the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Graduate Studies, review and update the program guidelines and approve all resulting Notices of Award and/or Change.
• Create and develop information and training opportunities for the research community on research grant administration and management. 
• Create and maintain updated documents related to major funding agencies eligibility requirements for dissemination to the research community.
• Work with the Manager to develop new policies to support external guidelines.
• Under the direction of the Director, VPRGS Sector, perform critical functions of the Manager, Research Grants in his/her absence.
• Execute special projects as assigned by the Manager and perform other duties as required in support of the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the primary responsibilities and two to four years of related work experience.
• Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English and good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written French to understand texts and communicate with external agencies. 
• Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Excel to use mathematical and financial functions. Basic knowledge of Word to create and format documents and PowerPoint to create and edit presentations.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
• Strong communication, customer service, decision-making, interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Strong organizational planning and problem solving skills.
• Ability to foster a positive team work environment.

Concordia University is an English-language institution of higher learning at which the primary language of instruction and research is English. Since this position supports academic and administrative functions of the university, proficiency in English and French, as indicated, is required.
