The purpose of Central Supply is to provide 24-hour, state-of-the-art storage and delivery of all surgical and medical supplies, instruments, and equipment used for the treatment and care of animals at the VTH. The Central Supply unit instructs professional and paraprofessional Veterinary Medical students, interns, residents, Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Technician Students in a clinical setting with emphasis on the use and care of instruments and equipment used in the treatment of sick animals. This position will report to the materials supervisor.

The employee in this position is designated as essential personnel and may need to be available to support hospital personnel in times of campus closures.

The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Signing bonus may be available for eligible and successful candidates. Required Job Qualifications High School Diploma (or GED) One year of full-time experience which includes warehousing, handling, shipping, receiving, storing, inventory, and/or distribution of goods. Preferred Job Qualifications Knowledge of inventory control methods. Working knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. Demonstrated abilities with participating in positive teamwork in a diverse work group. Reliability Willing and able to learn new methods and computer programs. Willing and able to stand and walk most of the day. Demonstrated verbal communication skills. Willing and able to gain forklift certification. Essential Duties Job Duty Category Receiving Duty/Responsibility Receive, inspect, sort, deliver, rotate, and store all medical and surgical supplies, instruments, equipment, pet foods, fluids for surgery, paper, and misc. supplies received at the VTH using a fork lift and other materials handling equipment. Percentage Of Time 10 Job Duty Category Inventory Duty/Responsibility Prioritize surgical, medical, teaching, and research needs of all units in the hospital and fill their orders as needed. Inform and provide units with alternative supply sources for unique or hard-to-find items. Remove these items from inventory using the correct procedures for said task. Assemble accurate inventory records by allocating medical and surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment to the proper charge accounts. Enter all hospital charges, client bills, and hospital area charge accounts by means of the computer. Contact purchasing when inventory levels reach the reorder point established by purchasing. Percentage Of Time 30 Job Duty Category Sterilization Duty/Responsibility Check-in, inspect, clean, assemble, wrap, sterilize, and store surgical and medical supplies, instruments, and equipment used at the VTH for the instruction of professional and paraprofessional Veterinary Medical students in the care and treatment of the animals. Percentage Of Time 50 Job Duty Category Laundry Duty/Responsibility Work in Central Supply laundry when needed, performing all tasks associated with this job.  These include loading and unloading washers and dryers, folding and wrapping surgical gowns and drapes for sterilization, folding all non-surgical laundry and placing on appropriate department shelves Percentage Of Time 10 Application Details
