Purpose of Position

The DevOps Engineer, Senior is responsible for working with software developers, system admins, IT operations staff to build, automate, monitor, and maintain the platform services that run NetJets business applications. The DevOps Engineer, Senior will oversee and facilitate code releases or deployments on a continuous integration and continuous delivery that meet operational targets for security, high availability, DR, logging, and monitoring In this capacity, the DevOps Engineer, Senior is responsible for: 
• Partnering with development teams to design and deliver infrastructure and platform solutions that meet operational targets for secure, high availability, DR, logging and monitoring
• Installing, automating, patching, upgrading, supporting, managing capacity, and administration of platform services (e.g. WebSphere, Tomcat)
• Driving the automation and adoption of DevOps for infrastructure services and application deployments 
• Providing 24x7x365 assistance as necessary in support of NetJets operations as part of the team on-call support. 
• Implementation of automation and proactive monitoring self-healing and event management for applications and platform services. 
• Mentoring DevOps Engineers / team members. 
• Adhere to SLAs for patching of critical systems that limits security risks with minimal impact to system availability

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Implement DevOps processes including automation and CI/CD to support ongoing application implementation and releases.
• Design, automate delivery, monitor and maintenance of platform services (WebSphere, Tomcat, NodeJS, Informatica, Layer7, Datadog, IBM MQ and AWS).
• Establish, maintain, and follow standard information security processes and remediate vulnerabilities per company policy.
• Lead or assist with projects or major initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to team members.

Technical Skills:

• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Software Development and/or Infrastructure roles 
• Advanced proficiency in middleware technologies (Websphere Application Server, Tomcat) 
• Strong understanding of the fundamentals of web application and relational database architectures 
• Understanding of Agile and other development processes and methodologies 
• Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows system administration experience required
• Current hands-on development experience in one or more modern languages and frameworks (Python is preferred) 
• Working knowledge of Ansible and Terraform
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the design and best practices for CI/CD processes and tools (Jenkins) 
• Knowledge/experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS
• In-depth knowledge working with and managing code and artifact repositories (Bitbucket, Nexus, Github) 
• Exposure or hands on experience with APM tools (DataDog)
• AWS / Cloud experience required
• AWS Disaster Recovery design and deployment across regions a plus

Business/Personal Skills: 

• Previous senior level / team lead experience a plus, but not required
• System troubleshooting and problem resolution across various application domains and platforms
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
• Ability to help plan and lead small projects and take accountability to team objectives
