Position Summary

The Pediatric Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood from patients, ages Newborn to Young Adult, who are seen in Pediatric Health Associates, Doctors Park Pediatrics, and Elliot Pediatric Specialties, all located at 275 Mammoth Rd. The Pediatric Phlebotomist is a very important member of our multidisciplinary team, seeing patients when they are in the office for an appointment, as well as patients who are scheduled for lab work outside of an office visit with a provider. Additional duties include maintaining lab supplies and point of care testing.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately identifies patients, verifies orders and procures specimen accurately at time of collection for testing according to policy and standards in all settings.

Follows all National Patient Safety Goal standards

Explains procedures to patients and supportive persons utilizing critical thinking, communication skills and age-appropriate dialogue.

Prepares specimens for processing, operates centrifuges, and completes paperwork associated with the test ordered.

Provides care to the patients to ensure well-being immediately following specimen collection.

Maintains work area in an organized, professional manner and ensures all materials are used within specified expiration date.

Education/Experience

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Previous experience required. Phlebotomy training preferred

Certification/Licensure: None required.

Software/Hardware: Knowledge of MS Office.
