MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Physical Therapy Services
Provide physical therapy services as specified in the physical therapy plan of care. Screen candidates for physical therapy needs as directed by a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with established procedures. Assist the licensed Physical Therapist to revise short-term patient goals.Student Management
Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level, interests, and needs of the student. Communicate parents, teachers, and administrators concerning the educational needs of students and physical therapy progress as directed by the licensed Physical Therapist.Program Management
Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with the interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students according to District procedures as directed by the licensed Physical Therapist. Assist the licensed Physical Therapist in developing and coordinating a continuing evaluation of the physical therapy program and implementing changes based on the findings. Assist with instructing teachers, staff, and parents in use of adaptive equipment, assistive technology programs or devices, and integration of therapy goals into the educational program.Policy, Reports, and Law
Maintain confidentiality. Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents. Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research. Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives. Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned._____________________________________________________________________
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Associate degree from an accredited physical therapy program Valid Texas License as a Physical Therapist Assistant granted by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy ExaminersExperience:
One (1) year experience in physical therapy, including contact with school-aged children_____________________________________________________________________
