Company Overview:

Summit Materials Finance Group (SFG) is a subsidiary of Summit Materials, Inc. Summit Materials acquires and grows heavy-side building materials companies in the aggregates, ready-mix concrete, cement, asphalt paving, and construction industries in the United States and British Columbia, Canada. SFG provides accounting services and support for several Operating Companies of Summit Materials.

Overview

Responsible for prompt and accurate payment of vendor invoices, resolving vendor issues, and collaborating with team members on process improvements.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of invoices and work through complex transactions
• Complete 3-way match of all payable invoices
• Work in multiple accounting systems
• Effectively communicate with operation personnel and vendors
• Research and resolve vendor issues
• Manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines
• Knowledge of internal controls in the Procure to Pay process
• Participate in month-end closing activities
• Complete initiatives contributing towards process improvements
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Skills & Experience 

• Associate degree in Accounting or Business, or 3 years of previous AP or Accounting experience
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to solve problems in a positive manner
• Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities/projects in a professional manner
• Results-oriented with the ability to adapt to a changing environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and follow-up skills with attention to detail
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong customer service orientation with a high energy level
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide cross section of individuals
• Ability to work under pressure of strict deadlines

Physical Requirements:

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, computer terminal and keyboard, facsimile, calculator, and understands computer basics. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
