The CareNu Senior Accountant is responsible for implementing and maintaining accounting processes and records; performing analysis of source transaction files, data, and documentation; and preparing journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and pro forma financial reports.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalent field; master’s preferred or combination of education and experienceMBA and/or CPA/CMA preferredMinimum of three (3) years of progressive work experience in accounting and/or healthcare finance-related fieldMinimum of one (1) year experience working with CMS, Medicare/Medicaid, or other payer transactions preferredAccounting and financial reporting and analysis experience in the health insurance industry or consulting fieldExperience using MS Excel at a highly proficient levelExperience in MS Access, SQL, SAS, Python, SPSS, or other database software applications preferredAccounting and ERP systems experience preferred – MS Dynamics Business Central, PeopleSoft, EssbaseSolid computer skills including experience with MS Excel, MS Access, relational databases, data warehousesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of various payment systems preferred (i.e., Capitation, DRG, Per Diems, Hospice, HHA, Physician Fee Schedules)Competencies:

Reviews and interprets CMS and other government documentation, MSO contracts, provider contracts and incentive/settlement arrangements, business (customer/supplier/vendor) agreements, and other documentation to assess proper accounting treatment and establish supporting recordkeeping processes.Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual income statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports for CareNu and organizations under MSO contract with CareNu.Prepares quarterly and annual statutory financial statements and reports required by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation and other federal and state government agencies with regulatory authority over CareNu and its MSO customers.Supports periodic audits performed by regulatory agencies and external auditors.Supports the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of CareNu internal control procedures and compliance with corporate authorization guidelines and policies.Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal cost accounting processes and systems for classifying CareNu operating expenses according to MSO customer service agreements.Supports development of budgets and forecasts and reporting of actual results vs. targets, including analysis of material variances and root causes.Prepares financial models/analyses to support current and proposed business transactions, service offerings, performance improvement initiatives, etc.Assists in MSO service pricing analysis and MSO contracting and proposal development.Prepares and analyzes monthly financial reconciliations related to various eligibility and revenue sources and remittance files for CareNu and its MSO managed entities.Prepares monthly billing and accrual entries for different revenue sources to promote accurate accrual-basis financial results within established timeframes.Identifies opportunities for revenue optimization and cost savings through research and analysis.Prepares and analyzes monthly financial reconciliations related to medical claim and capitation expenses and disbursements, including estimates of incurred but not reported (IBNR) expense and related claims payable liability.Processes check requests, prepares customer invoices for MSO services, and coordinates other accounts payable/receivable activity.Assists with or leads the month-end and quarterly-end close process for assigned businesses or groups.Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigates issues providing explanations and interpretation.Utilizes technology to promote efficiency and to add controls and eliminate risk from financial processes.Participates in system implementation and data integration activities, including process design and testing, and helps in the standardization of revenue/expense analysis and accounting processes for CareNu businesses.Provides internal service and support to project managers and functional leads on various revenue generation, provider reimbursement, and other related financial issues.In collaboration with key stakeholders, contributes to the design and maintenance of dashboards on financial information and other key operating metrics.Performs other duties as assigned.This position requires consent to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment is made, as well as on-going compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
