The Custodian Part-Time position is critical in providing a clean and sanitary environment by performing housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, floor maintenance, minor repairs and painting, and waste collection services in all areas of the CSU Health Network.
This is a part-time, evening position, with a typical work schedule of 5:00 PM 9:00 PM, Monday Friday, with a total of 20 work hours per week. These hours may vary slightly between the hours of 4:30 and 10:00 depending on mutual individual and business needs.

This position reports directly to the Facility and Custodial Services Manager. Required Job Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Cleaning experience in a commercial environment Preferred Job Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Experience providing custodial services in a medical environment Operating knowledge of and experience with custodial equipment including vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, floor scrubbing and/or polishing machines, buffing and/or other related cleaning operations Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning products Integrity Reliable with strong work ethic Attention to detail Ability to work independently and take initiative to perform work responsibilities successfully with minimal supervision Ability to verbally communicate effectively with organization staff, students, and visitors Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to maintain employer and staff confidentiality Ability to work with diverse populations, including religious/spiritual beliefs; racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds; sexual orientations and gender identities Diversity Statement Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Departments commitment to diversity and inclusion. Essential Duties Job Duty Category Cleaning and Laundry Duty/Responsibility Clean and maintain building interiors, following sanitary standards Wash, wipe, dust, scrub, scour, disinfect, vacuum, sweep, mop, buff, and polish surfaces, floors, walls, windows, blinds, lavatories, mirrors, furnishings, and fabric Deep Cleaning Strip and wax hard floors Shampoo carpets and upholstery Exterior Spread various products on exterior ground surfaces to de-ice to prevent staff, students, and visitors from falling Provide building access and security through snow removal services within the Monday-Friday work schedule; and may provide removal services on weekends and during inclement weather closures as necessary to service the Health Network and building partners Laundry Collect soiled laundry in the Health Network and sort/prepare for delivery to off-site service Fold and put away clean laundry Percentage Of Time 40% Job Duty Category Floor Maintenance Duty/Responsibility Sweep, mop, scrub and buff all hard floors to keep clean and eliminate scuff marks and scratches Vacuum carpeted floors and upholstered furniture Percentage Of Time 35% Job Duty Category Minor Repairs and Painting Duty/Responsibility Assist in repairs Paint walls and floors up to 20 feet high using scaffolding, and extension methods Move furniture Percentage Of Time 15% Job Duty Category Waste Collection and Disposal Duty/Responsibility Gather recyclable materials Sort by bin for collection Gather non-recyclable items Replace trash liners and discard waste into the dumpster Collect and dispose of biohazard in proper receptacles Percentage Of Time 10% Application Details
