Location: Boston Post Rd, Guilford, CT
Department: Family Practice 
Hours: 40 hours/weekly, full time. Monday through Friday, hours ranging between 7:30AM - 5:00PM 


The Medical Assistant supports the Care team and its patients through patient care, clinical and administrative tasks including patient intake, receiving and responding to patient phone calls, and documenting patient interactions. The MA performs duties within the Connecticut scope of practice.

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs EKGs and other office testingPerforms quality control checks on equipmentRooms patients according to policy and procedures, prepares patient for examinationRecords patient care documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely mannerCoordinates patient care as directed by physicians, company standards and policiesRespects patient confidentiality at all times and treats patients with courtesy and respectOrganizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks and cleans rooms and sterilizes instrumentsPractices standard infection control precautionsTelephone and in-person screening limited to intake and gathering of information without requiring the exercise of judgment based on clinical knowledgeCarries out standing orders consistent with ProHealth’ s policies and proceduresSchedules tests, treatments and follow-up visits on behalf of patientsIn advance of the visit, perform Pre-visit Preparation to confirm that all needed information is availableInforms new and existing patients/families about how to access information about their healthcare teamDelivers quality customer serviceEnsures all policy and procedures are followed including infection control, patient confidentiality and privacyActively participate in regular team meetings and quality improvement activitiesResponsible for conducting outreach to patients identified on monthly clinical performance reportsProvide effective communication with all patientsPerforms all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Graduate from an accredited MA programMedical Assistant Certification - CMA or RMA, or or ability to obtain within days from hire Proficient in Microsoft Products

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience working with an electronic health record (Allscripts/EPIC)Knowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge of ICD - 10 and CPT coding

Physical & Mental Requirements:

Ability to lift, push or pull >35 lbs. with assistanceAbility to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to use fine motor skills to operate equipment and / or machineryAbility to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and / or in writingAbility to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solvingOccasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluidsAbility to discriminate shades of color when reading dipstick

Connecticut Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
