The Controls Technician will report directly to a team project manager and work closely with the design engineer to ensure they have the tools necessary to be successful on each project. The Controls Technician will also work professionally with both internal and external clients and will have the ability to work independently or part of a team. Responsibilities: Startup and testing of building automation systems. Working directly with clients and subcontractors to facilitate the installation of designed control systems. Follows a systematic plan for complete startup of systems and turnover to project team. Responsible for documentation of startup process for the system. Responsible to communicate with the project manager and client to assist in the effective completion of the project. Takes initiative to find solutions Coordinate the punch-out of front-end system Interfaces with Electrician on coordination items Documentation of tested points / and wiring runs Startup/Testing of terminal unit and air handling unit controllers as well as central plant controllers (HW Systems, CHW Systems, and CW Systems) Communicate directives to electrical subcontractors for proper installation of our control components. Interface with 3rd party manufacturer controls Read wiring diagrams to determine proper terminations to mechanical equipment Terminate and trouble shoot wiring and system components Creation of software points in the controllers Testing of automatic programming sequence Maintains daily reports on project progress and open items Continually enforces safety to the highest standards Qualifications: 0-3+ years of technician experience within the controls industry and systems Technical degree in HVAC, or equivalent combination of education and experience Proficient with a computer - Microsoft Office Suite and adaptable to new software platforms Depth of knowledge in mechanical systems and sequences of operations Reading and understand mechanical design documents (duct layouts, piping schematics, riser diagrams) as well as Manufacturer's wire diagrams Experienced abilities in problem solving and troubleshooting Familiarity with interfacing to third party devices Seeks high level of quality in their work and to exceed client expectations (internal and external) Ability to work independent or part of a team Presents a positive image for the company Seeks high level of quality in their work and to exceed client expectations (internal and external) Possess a desire to continually learn and strive towards excellence *This is a national account position working on sites throughout the continental US. Travel will be required for 75%-80% of the time. Main offices are located in the NY/Philadelphia Metropolitan Area and Portland/Seattle Region. No relocation will be offered for this position.
