Department Overview

WDTech is W&D’s in-house technology team – a diverse group of energetic and highly skilled technology professionals, all of whom are leading experts in real estate data, data science, and technology. 

WDTech Product works hand-in-hand with the business to translate business outcomes into actionable product strategies, aligning user needs with innovative solutions, via close collaboration with our engineering partners, to ensure W&D maintains a competitive advantage as our technology landscape and target market rapidly evolve. 

The Impact You Will Have 

As SVP of Product for data, you will play a pivotal role in driving the definition and execution of our data strategy, enabling powerful, data-driven, product experiences for W&D employees and customers. Acting as the data authority for the business, you will be responsible for ensuring that we extract the maximum value from our data assets.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives. Define and own the roadmap for leveraging data to enhance our technology product offerings and drive business growth.

Establish and implement robust data governance policies, processes, and standards to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Develop and implement data management best practices across the organization.

Elicit the data needs of the business and translate them into detailed requirements, collaborating with your data science and engineering peers to deliver innovative data solutions.

Grow and lead a high-performing data product management team. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

Manage relationships with our external data vendors. Evaluate vendor offerings, negotiate contracts, and ensure the effective delivery of services and solutions.

Represent W&D as a domain and data product expert at customer interactions.

Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

10 or more years of experience in product leadership roles within the data domain

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field

Bonus points for experience in real-estate domain


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding and practical experience in the application of data governance, data quality, data architecture, data modeling and management principles and best practices.

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that drives business value.

Experience with data analytics and data science tools and techniques, including data visualization, machine learning, and predictive analytics.

Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, with the proven ability to positively influence and inspire technology teams and stakeholders

Strong agile mindset, able to iterate fast and give early feedback

Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English

Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes
