An Accountant II is responsible for month-end closing procedures, reconciling general ledger accounts from various sections of the financials, analyzing variances and unusual activity within the financial statements, and various journal entries. This role is part of the Finance, Accounting and Compliance team.

Here’s more of what you will do… (OK, not all in one day)

Performs account analysis, accruals, and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts.

Books daily bank entries and transfers into our accounting system for the cash accounts.

Performs daily reconciliation of the general and EFT cash accounts.

Reconciles unclaimed checks account.

Performs weekly reconciliation of the AR employee advances, TABC, AR other, and garnishment accounts.

Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, prepares full monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.

Prepares and adjusts journal entries as required.

Review POS Pay exceptions for General Account.

Posts AR and AP batches.

Batches and posts GL batches in eoStar (including False Front-lines).

Posts PC tactical accruals.

Performs monthly reconciliations, depository cash account, accrued supplier tactical accounts, and AP accrual. 

Posts monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.

Completes the month-end closing financial process.

Prepares and enters journal entries to record, reclassify, and accrue activity.

Completes margin analysis and review to determine necessary accruals and deferrals.

Reconciles key accounts to be reported and analyzed before closing monthly activity.

Researches billing, accounts payable, and settlements activity to identify and correct errors.

Performs account research to resolve discrepancies and questions as needed.

Analyzes income statement accounts for any unusual variances.

Researches of all unusual items and key accounts to determine if adjustments are necessary.

Communicates any unusual activity to management.

Performs account reconciliations.

Works with accounting team to reconcile all balance sheet accounts.

Analyzes accounts to determine if adjustments are necessary.

Communicates any unusual balances or activity to management.

Analyzes financial information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information.

Answers accounting and financial questions from leadership and other department members by researching and interpreting data.

Analyzes trends and explains variances by account or by department/account and determines necessary accruals; reclassifications; and/or corrections.

Reviews POS Pay exceptions for the general account.

Runs accounting processes and reports.

Runs FIFO in eoStar.

Runs tactical reports out of eoStar for the Brand team.

Provides financial insights and reports to department leadership and cross-functional leadership.

Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes, and updating process narratives to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.

Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential, protecting company assets, and identifying fraud or overspending.

Performs internal control evaluations as needed.

Continually reviews accounting and financial processes and recommends changes and new processes based on industry best practices to leadership.

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Other Related Field

Two to Three Years of Progressively Responsible Accounting and/or Finance Experience

Advanced MS Office Suite (Excel) experience; VLOOKUP, Advanced Formulas, External Data Connections, PowerPivot, PowerQuery, Macros

Advanced Interpersonal Communication Skills; Ability to Work Cross-Functionally and Adapt/Interact with a Variety of Organizational Levels
