Summary of Job Duties:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a trained member of the clinic-based team who supports the ongoing delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. The PCT works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment, or intervention. The PCT must pass the required competencies. The PCT works within the service line’s standards. The PCT adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards, Code of Conduct and guest care guidelines.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

HS PLUS successful completion of PCT course within 3 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ year(s) experience working in an acute hospital setting, providing patient care. 


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

Assists patients and visitors with information and issues.

Notifies appropriate staff members of problems requiring prompt intervention

Obtains patient report communicates with nursing staff regarding patient care/changes in condition.

Informs nurses of patient requests or complaints

Documents patient care activities/tasks, including vital signs, activities of daily life (ADL), wave tests, and input and output (I&Os)

Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with activities

Monitors and maintains adequate levels of supplies inside and outside of rooms. Prepares treatment rooms for examinations

Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed

Serves as resources person to support department members in performance of duties

Performs other duties as assigned
