Job Description:
National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a District Manager - Rail to support field services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State DOT's, as well as Railroad Suppliers, Contractors, and Consultants alike.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Railroad Engineering, Railroad Design, Railroad Construction, and/or Railroad Business (Preferred).
Equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
Required Experience:
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in Railroad Engineering, Railroad Design, Railroad Construction, and/or Railroad Business (Class 1 Preferred).

Job Requirements:
- Proven experience as a District Manager, Project Manager, or Senior Project Manager.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office products.
- Demonstrated team building and verbal/oral skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail required; well organized.
- Strong technical writing ability.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Direct, develop, and evaluate projects using accepted project management methodologies.
- Develop criteria for evaluating programs, schedules, and other pertinent information related to project assignments.
- Develops project schedules, work plans, resources requirements, cost estimates, and projections.
- Monitor and manage project quality to ensure project deliverables are acceptable and fulfill the terms of the project contract and/or specifications.
- Identify potential project risks and difficulties and design strategies to mitigate or avoid them.
- Compile and distribute project information, status reports, and project expenditures.
- Create documentation procedures to capture and deal with changes in original project plan.
- Monitor and manage employee overtime and expenses.
- Plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.
Job Duties:
- Manage rail, transit, and/or roadway projects.
- Manage staff and activities for projects varying in size and complexity and coordinate schedule, procedures, and resources needed to accomplish project objectives.
- Establish work plans and staffing for each phase of project and arrange for recruitment and/or assignment of project personnel as required.
- Communicate with executives and recommend project alternatives and/or schedule changes.
- Manage all aspects of the entire project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close).
- Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.
- Prepare project reports for management, client, and/or others.
- Effectively lead and coordinate the activities of the team.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify and manage tasks as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
