We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant, Fillauer, who demonstrates knowledge and experience in accounting, using independence and judgement to recognize and resolve problems. An ideal candidate will be able to apply their strong excel skills and analytical thinking to improve the company’s procedures and process flows. This candidate should be very detail oriented, possess excellent organizational skills, and be able to demonstrate full ownership of their work. The position will report to the Director of Accounting and Finance, Fillauer. Fillauer which has six locations was recently acquired by Hanger, Inc. and this position is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The position will assist in leading the Fillauer accounting team and will prepare and implement monthly close processes, financial analyses, management reporting, and compliance with company standard operating procedures. In addition to the preceding, specifically, we need demonstrated success in improving internal controls, financial reporting.

Your Impact:
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly close processes including preparation of journal entries
  • Review expenses at a cost center level for accuracy and understanding of key trends
  • Ensure Balance Sheet accounts are properly calculated, supported and reconciled
  • Involved in all aspects of External and Internal audit activities
  • Perform analysis as well as assist in reviewing or enhancing analysis and analytical processes and controls
  • Prepare monthly reporting and analysis of certain key balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Assist in developing and maintaining internal SOX documentation and controls, reconciliations, monitor operational/industry/regulatory changes and develop new processes and policies to accommodate accordingly
  • Provide timely responses and deliverables to requests from internal customers from functions including Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Supply Chain, Technology and department owners
  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives
  • Perform other job duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required. CPA is a plus
  • Public accounting and / or public company (SOX controls) is a plus
  • 0-3years of progressive Accounting experience
  • Experience and working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems - preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Strong Computer skills required; Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel
