Position Title: Grant Accountant (Financial Accountant) 

Location: Chattanooga, TN 

Duration: Full Time, Direct Hire

Compensation: $62,000 - $89,000

Job Description:

A client of Insight Global in Chattanooga is looking for a meticulous and committed Grant Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in accounting and budgeting, including tasks like budget preparation, financial reporting, recording revenue, and updating accounting structures.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Fiscal Support: Work with the Central Office, schools, and local agencies; adhere to financial management controls; train and support staff; review budgets and financial records; analyze accounts; monitor spending; assist with reports and documentation.
• Revenue Monitoring: Manage the receipt, recording, and reporting of revenue; oversee cash receipts, deposits, and electronic fund transfers.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP, Governmental Accounting Standards, and other regulations; address and correct any deviations or violations.
• Budget Preparation: Prepare and revise budgets for the Board and County Commissioners; manage grant budgets; help department heads monitor budgets; provide financial reports.
• Reimbursement Requests: Prepare and submit reimbursement requests and financial reports to state and federal agencies.
• Auditor Interaction: Respond to auditor inquiries; resolve discrepancies and take corrective actions.

Must-Haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Over 6 years of experience in public accounting, grant accounting, or governmental accounting.
• Proficiency with accounting information systems and personal computer operations.
• Strong skills in financial analysis and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
