In addition to being responsible for providing basic care and assistance with activities of daily living, you would be an integral part of a team whose energy, compassion, creativity and talents are valued and rewarded.  We want you to be the best you can be – we can do this together with work/life integration, mentoring, and career pathways.

Essential Duties:

  • Administer medications in accordance with accepted practices presented in the Virginia Board of Nursing Medication Aide Regulations.
  • Document in Medication Administration Record (MAR) all medications administered.
  • Check and record vital signs, weights and blood sugars as ordered and record (ADL's).
  • Successfully pass a medication administration observation at least annually.
  • Provide for or assist patients with activities of daily living as needed, including bathe/shower according to schedule, oral care, toileting, dressing, etc.
  • Assist residents with transfers and ambulation as directed and ordered by the physician using proper body mechanics. Use of facility gait belts and mechanical devices is required.
  • Assist other staff with heavy lifting, transferring, and use of proper equipment according to policy and physicians’ orders.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate/GED
  • Current registration as a Medication Aide issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Certified Nursing Aide Certification is strongly preferred.
  • The ability to coordinate programming each day for the assigned neighborhood.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy and compassion
  • Good collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
  • In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
  • Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
  • Comfortable working with specific populations of patients, including elderly patients and those with special needs
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Excellent customer service
