​​​​​​The position oversees the construction and alteration of costumes, hair, and make-up for all of the School’s season productions; realizes finished garments, crafts, and accessories from design phase to completion, overseeing and providing tracking of all parts of the fabrication process; manages studio workflow; supervises and manages all costume studio staff, which includes student undergraduate and graduate production assistants and the allotted payroll; trains and manages backstage operations in the areas of wardrobe, hair, and make-up; Oversees the studio’s purchasing, production, and operational budget; manages costume stock and storage on and off site; consults with the production manager and the associate director of productions on scope, labor, and resource allocation. Collaborate with School personnel to realize season productions Organize and manage all aspects of costume, hair, and make-up for season productions Train and supervise costume employees and student crews according to industry standards Plans, scales, and documents the build to meet artistic goals of the productions and educational environment Attend and manage all fittings Manage safe operations and maintenance of all studio equipment and machinery. Oversee upkeep of School’s costume stock Manage allotted production and operational budgets Attends and participates in season planning efforts, staff meetings, production meetings, postmortem assessments, and other production-related meetings. Attend Dress Rehearsals Pattern, drape, and/or construct garments as needed Occasional evenings and weekends required

Preferred Qualifications

Two or more years of professional experience in a technical theatre or live entertainment field Previous experience supervising or managing a costume studio or shop. Management and leadership experience in a technical theatre or live entertainment field. Proficiency in costume construction techniques, including patterning, draping, stitching, and alteration Proficiency in costume crafts, such as fabric dyeing, millinery, and cobbling. Proficiency in wig styling and maintenance techniques Proficiency in stage makeup techniques Experience in digital fabrication, such as fabric printing, 3D printing, Laser Cutting, and other technologies Models professional standards and adheres to applicable safety codes and practices Ability to learn/use Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and other software Familiarity with garment care and restoration Knowledge of period and/or dance garment construction or other specialized aspect of construction technology One or more years of experience within higher education Model respect for all bodies and boundaries to ensure supportive environment during the entire costume process. Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques, personnel management, collaborative best practices, and leadership. A demonstrated and ongoing commitment to serving diverse populations. Must have a valid driver's license to transport costume stock to and from storage Must be able to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders
