Position Overview
As a Maintenance Technician, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and be responsible for addressing general maintenance work orders throughout the center. This is an hourly, non-exempt position. You will play a crucial role in preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills; and independent living.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform interior and exterior janitorial, building maintenance, and groundskeeping tasks as per work orders. Carry out minor building construction activities. Maintain grounds by mowing lawns and picking up trash and papers. Transport students to various vocational sites, medical centers, recreational activities, courts, etc. Ensure tools and equipment are in good repair and stored appropriately. Transport equipment and commodities within the center. Perform basic electrical repairs like changing light bulbs and replacing faulty cords. Adhere to all PRH, PAG, CDSS, and center policies and procedures. Maintain cleanliness and compliance with DOL standards for equipment and facilities. Foster a work environment with zero accidents and injuries. Attend required staff training sessions. Model and communicate appropriate CSS and employability skills, including personal responsibility and computer fluency. Ensure accountability of staff, students, and property, and uphold safety practices. Promote a respectful and harassment-free environment. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED, with at least one year of related work experience. Proficiency in a trade, with general knowledge of at least one additional trade. Potential requirement for a license to perform specific tasks. Completion of all mandated training as per government and management directives. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Commercial driver’s license is a plus. Effective communication skills and ability to relate to the trainee population. Ability to operate household appliances and interact positively with team members and all facility staff.
Working Conditions
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and carrying. Occasional sitting, squatting, kneeling, pushing, or pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to see, hear, and speak clearly.
Environmental Demands
Spend 65% of work time outside and 35% indoors. Withstand moderate noise levels. Work in high temperatures during summer and low temperatures during winter.
