Warehouse Floater

The Warehouse Floater is responsible for temporarily filling in for any Material Handler position or Receiver position that may be vacant. This will require the daily operation of a sit down forklift as well as an order-picker (which will require working at an elevation of 20 feet). Daily tasks include loading/unloading material, staging material for storage or shipment and tracking properly through scanner/tablet system. Basic email and excel spreadsheets will be used. The warehouse floater will maintain a safe and clean work area by ensuring they clean their area as needed.

Primary Duties:

Fills in temporarily for any vacant Material Handler or Receiver positions. Pulls material and stage to proper location. Loads and unloads material. Receives material on the inbound dock. Ensures that every material move is accompanied by an accurate and confirmed transaction with scanner/tablet. Ensures proper material handling and packaging to meet quality standards. Utilizes overhead crane operation Operates (be certified for) a sit down forklift as well as an order-picker. Performs other duties as assigned.

Works efficiently to achieve or exceed performance targets for velocity, quality and cost. Understands and follow all ISO and 5S initiatives. Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve department and company goals. Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures and reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

Qualifications:

Previous experience operating a counter balance forklift. Six months experience in 3PL warehousing; prefer two years’ experience in 3PL environment High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Selected candidate will be required to complete G&D certification course to operate sit down/cherry picker power industrial truck.
