: The police officer provides law enforcement services to the community within the mission, goals, and objectives of the agency, and in compliance with governing federal, state, and local laws.The police officer patrols roads of and adjoining the College, responds to calls for assistance, enforces laws to provide for public safety, and protects the life and property of College and its Community. The police officer performs a variety of public safety tasks in the performance of law enforcement activities.All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students. Campus Police Officers are charged with duties of preserving the peace, order, and decorum of the college community, maintaining and academic atmosphere in compliance with college regulations, and state and federal statutes.Provide safety and protection to the college community and public. Provide building and property security. Direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Respond to emergencies. Represent college and legal authority. Respond for 24 hour call to duty. Operate various types of motor vehicles. Operate various types of radio equipment. Possess proficiency with firearms. Be proficient in basic 1st Aid certification. Make written and oral offense, informational, and accident reports. Testify in college disciplinary and civil court proceedings. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
