Harry & David is searching for an Assistant Wine Manager to join our retail team. The Assistant Wine Manager is responsible for supporting the Wine Manager in leading and managing the wine team to drive the sales of wine and beer in the Country Village store. This includes supporting the manager in managing sales margins, inventory, product purchasing, and new product research and acquisition. Other key responsibilities are supporting the manager in the direction of department associates, facilitating wine and beer marketing and advertising efforts, fielding customer requests, and vendor management.

Responsibilities:

Share leadership with Wine Manager on store profitability, through creating and sustaining exceptional customer experiences. Capable of answering complex wine questions and making recommendations to drive sales. Motivate and inspire team to anticipate and exceed all customer service needs. Establish and maintain strong partner relationships with local vendors, including participating in making new product decisions. Order and replenish wine and beer products to maintain adequate stock. Maintain wine and beer departments including proper merchandising, trends, pricing, and promotions. Participates in the planning of special events, including wine and beer tastings. Receive product and ensure proper placement, pricing and merchandising. Ensure proper signage in wine and beer departments. Assist Wine Manager in recruiting top-performing wine selling specialists. Other projects, tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

Top candidates for this position will have retail experience providing exceptional customer services and performing multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

Preferred Experience :

Retail Management: 1 year Management: 1 year

Licenses and Certificates:

Must be OLCC certified to serve alcohol.

Special Requirements:

Knowledgeable of specialty food and wine pairing strategies. Some knowledge of micro brews. Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, sitting, crawling and lifting. Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand 8-10 hours per day. Flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays if needed. Able to work in a cooler environment. This position requires a background investigation. Possibility of travel.
