Job Summary
The University of Colorado Boulder Museum encourages applications for a Visitor Services Attendant The position exists to provide exceptional visitor service, retail service, and security to museum patrons. This role exists to supplement permanent security/visitor services personnel. The Attendant supports front desk operations, opening and closing of the museum, and working at the front desk during evening lectures, opening receptions and other special events.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Provides exceptional visitor services and demonstrates knowledge of the Museum, its personnel, sections, the CU campus by informing visitors about Museum operations, giving campus directions, answering questions, explaining policies, and advising phone inquiries. Demonstrates phenomenal customer relations skills by interacting with visitors and callers in a courteous, effective manner. We seek a candidate who is interested in pursuing a career in museums, who actively engages with visitors as soon as they enter the museum, who is friendly, effective, and willing to go that little extra to make visitors' museum experience a positive one. Protects Museum by supervising the actions of visitors, both in person and via CCTV cameras, by safeguarding Museum keys and noticing any unusual occurrence. Determine when and why to contact police and security system agency. Responsible for communicating effectively when in need of first responders such as Safe Systems, CUPD, and BFD. Provides access to the Museum building (Henderson) by unlocking the building, disarming the security system, opening exhibit halls and common areas. Closes the Museum building by locking entrance doors, checking and locking all interior rooms, closing windows, turning off all electrical equipment (except computers) and lights, and arming electronic security system upon exiting the building. Facilitates retail sales by welcoming and assisting customers and being familiar with merchandise. Makes sales and/or returns correctly by using point of purchase and the credit card system, Clover. Closes cash drawer daily by counting drawer and using the Clover receipts, balances the cash drawer as per instructions from gift store manager. Provides store upkeep by accepting and accomplishing tasks related to inventory, stocking, or cleaning displays. Resolves issues created by others (unbalanced books, credit card machine or deposits) by finding and correcting errors. Operates as back-up building proctor by noticing building problems or unexpected changes and responding to emergency requests from Museum staff. Responds to building emergencies or emergencies involving Museum patrons by contacting the Service Center, Alarm Detection Systems, CUPD or other appropriate authorities. Documents interactions, phone calls and requests to Facilities Management. Works with other members of the Museum's Public Section to help with programs, tours, and other activities as needed. Training and support will be provided for these other duties.
What You Should Know
This is a temporary, part-time position anticipated to last 9 months. This position may have the potential to transition into a regular staff role. Weekdays, evenings, and weekends are all possible for scheduling.
What We Can Offer
The hourly pay for this position is $18 per hour.

What We Require
2 Years of experience that includes Retail experience and Customer Service experience. Education may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis. High School Diploma.
What You Will Need
Fluent speaker of English. Energetic. Excellent Relationship Building skills. Ability to work independently and with responsibility for initiating and completing tasks.
