Description

Summary: The Manufacturing and Test Engineer is responsible for transitioning product designs into manufacturing, inclusive of design and process reviews between the product development and the manufacturing teams. In general, the Manufacturing and Test Engineer is responsible for leading new manufacturing projects in support of product development and introduction process Implement manufacturing strategy by leading a team of technical resources at manufacturing sites or CM’s.

Primary Responsibilities:

Serves as the point of communication for technical/manufacturing related topics. Support lean manufacturing, DFx and line design projects. Act as a key escalation point and owner for technical issues. Facilitate technical reviews and approval of manufacturer driven change requests. Manage technical product interfaces with manufacturing, distribution, and value-add sites. Lead new manufacturing projects in support of product development and introduction process. Implement manufacturing and test strategies by leading a team of technical resources at manufacturing sites or 3rd parties. Develop manufacturing and test processes and techniques. Support new factory bring up, factory transfers and process implementations. Achieve end-to-end Process Yield and Efficiency targets. Identify and validate requirements for project capital and non-capital equipment needed for projects; ensure successful implementation. Work to standardize manufacturing and test process and quality across manufacturing sites, partners, and CM’s. Ensure proper process documentation at manufacturing sites. Drive continuous process improvement initiatives and best practices. Approve, assists, and tracks the implementation of procedures, process changes, engineering deviations and ECO’s. Frequent travel to manufacturing sites, distribution centers, value-add facilities to troubleshoot or support resolution of technical product issues. Required to have a strong comfort-level communicating throughout all levels of the organization. Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience in high technology mass production industry Experienced in validating and verifying complex hardware, sub-system designs and developing product and component level specifications. Understanding and strategic perspective of commodity, electrical and/or mechanical supply chain processes and strategy Advanced experience using Microsoft applications (i.e., Excel, Word, PPT, etc.) Ability to use a PC and PC-based tools for document preparation, engineering analysis and engineering design. Willingness and ability to travel 15-20% both domestically and internationally.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to lead and influence, particularly in complex, international and cross-functional teams. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary product development and supply chain teams with a track record of on-time and on-scope delivery. Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, suppliers and vendors. Must be able to solve complex technical electrical or mechanical problems employing solid scientific methods such as controlled experiments and analysis. Proven ability to multi-task, set project priorities, goals and objectives for self. Ability to effectively & professionally communicate with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
