JOB SUMMARY
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) to assist with material handling, shipping, receiving and other activities. The list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Comply with Company Safety Policies and Procedures Wears assigned PPE in order to safely perform all job tasks Wears steel-toed boot for the duration of work shift Maintains a professional and positive attitude Reports any and all injuries to respective supervisor(s) Performs general housekeeping duties to help maintain a clean and safe work area Attends company sponsored training when necessary Reports to work daily and on time unless otherwise excused Abides by all of Westlake safety and/or quality policies and procedures Performs daily inspection on assigned forklift and notify appropriate personnel of all safety and maintenance issues prior to driving forklift Transfers material throughout facility and store new product in designated area Safely secures and loads flatbed and flatbed trucks as needed (where applicable) Keeps record of molds filled and stored in drying room (as applicable) Follows company safety procedures pertaining to forklift safety Follows all forklift safety procedures when replacing empty propane tanks on forklifts Wraps finished product for shipping (where applicable) Transfers finished goods from demolding area to finished goods area Retrieves pallets Performs other duties as assigned or needed Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


•Sort, stage & load pallets and related material in a safe manner following Westlake Forklift Safe Operation guidelines and policies
•Assist in inventory management of pallets to ensure production operations continue without interruption
•Required to operate a sit-down forklift and/or electric pallet jack in a safe and efficient manner
•Able to effectively work within a diverse team environment and be productive while unsupervised
•Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form in English
•Some minor pallet repairs

• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE


The employee should have the following:
•1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT


The employee should possess the ability to:
•Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
•Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
•Prolong standing or in stationary position
•Complete repetitive movements
•Bend and/or twist
•Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
•Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
•Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
•Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
•Must be able to work split shift (to train off shifts on safety concerns and changes)

El Operador de montacargas es responsable de la operación segura de un Vehículo Industrial Motorizado (PIV) para asistir con la manipulación, envío, recepción de materiales y otras actividades. Cumplir con las políticas y procedimientos de seguridad de la empresa Utiliza el EPP asignado para realizar con seguridad todas las tareas Usa calzado con punta de acero durante el turno de trabajo Mantiene una actitud profesional y positiva Informa de todas y cada una de las lesiones a los respectivos supervisores Realiza tareas generales de limpieza para ayudar a mantener un área de trabajo limpia y segura Asiste a la capacitación patrocinada por la compañía cuando es necesario Se reporta a trabajar diariamente y a tiempo, a menos que se justifique lo contrario Cumple con todas las políticas y procedimientos de seguridad y/o calidad de Westlake Realiza una inspección diaria en la carretilla elevadora asignada y notifica al personal apropiado sobre todos los problemas de seguridad y mantenimiento antes de conducir la carretilla elevadora Transfiere material a través de las instalaciones y almacena nuevos productos en el área designada Asegura y carga con seguridad los camiones de plataforma y camionetas según sea necesario Mantiene un registro de los moldes llenos y almacenados en la sala de secado Sigue los procedimientos de seguridad de la compañía relacionados con la seguridad de los montacargas Sigue todos los procedimientos de seguridad de la carretilla elevadora cuando reemplaza los tanques de propano vacíos en los montacargas Envuelve el producto terminado para enviar Transfiere productos terminados del área de desmoldeo al área de productos terminados Recupera paletas Realiza otras tareas asignadas o necesarias Tener una asistencia regular, puntualidad y flexibilidad de horario


CONOCIMIENTO, DESTREZAS Y CAPACIDADES


•Clasificar, organizar y cargar paletas y material asociado de manera segura siguiendo las pautas y políticas de Operación Segura de Montacargas de Westlake
•Asistir en la gestión de inventario de paletas para garantizar que las operaciones de producción sigan sin interrupción
•Debe operar una carretilla con asiento y/o gato eléctrico de manera segura y eficiente
•Capacidad de trabajar de manera efectiva dentro de un entorno de equipo diverso y ser productivo al estar sin supervisión
•Habilidades informáticas básicas
•Debe tener la capacidad para leer e interpretar documentos tales como la información de envío/recepción
•Capacidad de interpretar una variedad de instrucciones facilitadas en formato escrito, oral, de diagrama o programa de Ingles
•Algunas reparaciones menores en paletas

•Bilingüe inglés y español preferido


EDUCACIÓN Y/O EXPERIENCIA
