ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hands-on leader in wireless systems engineering efforts at Ossia, for both products (RDKs, white label) and joint development projects (PoCs, pilots, etc.).
  • Guide the company’s wireless system work in architectures, protocols, standards, modeling, simulations, performance, algorithms and testing.
  • Work closely with leadership team on setting technology objectives, communicating status and recommending systems directions.
  • Develop strategic plans for the direction and control of multiple parallel product development streams.
  • Improve systems engineering processes, in coordination with other engineering teams, with the goal of creating a learning organization.
  • Work closely with Product Management and Business Development teams. Manage systems requirements and scope, while delivering results to our customers.
  • Motivate, coach and grow staff by providing technical direction and guidance. Must be a detail-oriented, fact-based, delivery-focused active technical contributor as an individual and a force multiplier for team members as hands-on technical resource.
  • Scope overall systems project efforts and timelines. Work closely with Program Management to meet milestones for internal and external projects.
  • Execute and influence the technical roadmap, ensuring products launch on time with quality, performance and features.
  • Formulate long-term systems objectives, standards, tools and processes for the department.
  • Evangelize our products and systems inside the company and externally with partners/customers and industry.

Requirements

  • 10 years in wireless systems engineering for product development at electronics manufacturers in consumer products, wireless, telecom or related industries.
  • Delivering complex wireless products, including protocols, simulations/models, link budgets, standards and compliance.
  • Wireless system engineering product design experience (e.g. cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, LoRa, satellite, etc.) and depth working with telecom or radar systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with wireless systems and standards, such as 5G/4G/3G/2G cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth and ZigBee, as well as standards setting bodies like 3GPP and IEEE.
  • Familiarity with electronically reconfigurable antenna array front-end and back-end hardware, signal processing.
  • Demonstrated capability taking technologies from concept phase through development into volume production.
  • Out-of-the-box thinker who finds ways to make teams and projects successful, managing innovative product risk, while balancing resources for on-time deliverables.
  • Strong technical contributor with strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills.
  • Broadly tech savvy, high professionalism, strong sense of business ethics and approachability.
  • Strong foundation of engineering competency, with a passion for excellence.
  • Demonstrated product passion with outstanding communication skills and commitment to taking game-changing technology to market.
  • Previous startup experience, guiding teams through rapid growth cycles.
  • BS EE, ECE or equivalent technical field required, MS or PhD preferred.
