Fives BRONX is actively seeking a permanent position Mechanical Design Engineer to join its teams in North Canton, Ohio.

Position Summary

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components and systems for our projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, proficiency in Autodesk CAD software, and a passion for innovation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Functions, Skills, & Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives. Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software. Conduct feasibility studies and perform analysis to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and safety standards. Create detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly. Prototype and test designs to validate performance and functionality. Identify and resolve design issues and implement design improvements as necessary. Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production. Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of heavy industrial equipment design experience or 10+ years of relevant heavy industrial equipment design experience required. Proficiency in Autodesk CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360). Experience in Tube Mill and/or Steel Mill equipment design preferred. Experience in the design of heavy industrial equipment in other related industries will be considered. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a plus. Experience with GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) & general mechanical tolerancing required. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials (machining, casting, forging, etc.). Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
