Wabtec is seeking a Buyer who will be responsible for the evaluation and approval of vendors and authorized purchase orders for goods and services. Need to be familiar with a variety of field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Some of the job responsibilities of this position include:
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Selects suppliers with Supply Chain Manager based on criteria such as quality certification, capacity analysis, financial analysis, etc. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.Must have knowledge of:
Negotiation skills. Knowledge of business math. Effective communication skills (verbal, written and listening). Knowledge of general office practices. PC skills. Problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Customer service and telephone etiquette. Organizational skills. Team player. Flexibility, adapt to change easy. Ability to work effectively under pressure. MRP System.Minimum Qualifications for this position require bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2+ years of experience. Strong organizational ability and excellent attention to detail. Ability to multitask; follow-p and meet deadline.
