Distribution Planning Engineer

Seeking an experienced Distribution Planner to provide planning and analysis support for the Engineering & Asset Management team of a major power utility.
Job Description:
CYME model creation, validation and load allocation for self-optimizing grid. Proposing new automated switching devices to segment the circuits to the self-optimizing grid application guide Perform load flow and short circuit analysis – i.e., normal configuration and contingency analysis. Propose recommendations to resolve circuit load imbalances, overloads, over/under voltages, VAR needs, etc. Identify equipment or capacity upgrade recommendations as warranted by the analysis Run Planning and Protection meetings with Zone Planners and DPAC engineers presenting analysis results for each team. Creating and/or Referencing relay settings files for all the proposed automated switching devices. Data collection utilizing standard tools (PI, FLPR, GE DORA, AcSELerator, etc.)Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program 3-10 years of relevant utility industry experience Proficient in CYMDIST (CYME), proficiency in equivalent power distribution system software such as Synergi will be considered Proficient in MS Word and Excel. Proficient in electric distribution system design engineering practices and principles. (i.e., ability to perform desktop and field validations, recognition of basic field equipment including electronic and hydraulic reclosers, sectionalizers, switchgear, wye and delta transformer banks, cutouts, phasing, etc.). Knowledge of basic distribution system planning practices including circuit model validation, analyzing switching contingencies, trouble‐shooting circuit overloads and voltage violations, resolving high‐neutral current issues, etc. Strong written and oral communications skills. Python and Microsoft Excel Macros coding experience
