How You’ll Make an Impact:

This role typically reports into the Sr. Director of Benefits, has 2 direct reports and supports global benefits for corporate, retail and distribution locations. In this role, you’ll help drive the benefits strategy and execution for over 15,000 Carter’s employees.

This position is located at our Buckhead office with four days in office per week and one flex day (typically Friday).

Benefits Administration, Reporting & Compliance (70%)

Manage global retirement plan administration, strategy and compliance, including consulting and communications with Carter’s employees and vendors.

Oversee and evaluate financial benefits programs (e.g., Tuition Reimbursement, Scholarships, Deferred Compensation, Purchasing Power, Service Milestone program).

Consult on U.S. health & welfare plan administration, strategy and compliance.

Plan, coordinate and oversee international benefit reviews and implementations. Manage international strategy and renewal cycle.

Identify and assist in evaluating strategic and innovative opportunities for both U.S. and international, including management of testing & technology initiatives.

Serve as liaison between benefits and HR Technology, Payroll, Finance, including integration files, audits and reconciliations.

Manage annual audit requirements and department control matrices and testing, working with internal and external auditors and financial partners, coordinating IT Security reviews and privacy assessments.

Ensure ongoing awareness of laws, regulations and trends affecting benefits and retirement plans and manage strategic initiatives and compliance for Company policies, procedures and documents (e.g. plan documents, SPD’s, SBC’s SAR’s, privacy/HIPAA practices, 5500’s). Ensure ACA administration/compliance.​

Benefits Policies & Special Projects (30%)

Oversee strategy and implementation of employee communications for retirement plans and financial benefits.

Manage HR policy initiatives and ownership of benefits department policies, including policy drafting, updates, interpretation, costing of potential changes and issue resolution.

Develop and present training materials associated with department initiatives as needed, including project plans for training delivery (e.g. HIPAA training, 401(k) training, etc.).

Serve as benefits subject matter expert on special projects that may involve other internal and external partners.

Identify and implement opportunities to improve, create and simplify department plans, processes and communications.

Must haves:

3-5 years prior benefits administration and/or retirement plan administration experience required, or relevant HR work experience; 2+ years prior communications background preferred.

Bachelor’s degree required; experience in a retail environment a plus.

Experience working with HRIS systems, Workday preferred.

Preferred Skills:

Strong project management and strategic planning skills.

Excellent customer service skills, supporting both internal and external customers.

Highly motivated, and able to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines. 

Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and financial acumen.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and problem-solving skills.

Strong MS Office skills (especially Excel) with proven ability to quickly learn other required systems. HR Technology (especially Workday) and Benefits Admin system experience preferred.

Working knowledge of Retirement Plan and H&W/ACA regulations (e.g. ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA and PPACA), with ongoing management of regulatory developments.

Must maintain complete confidentiality at all times.
