Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

Responsible for the analytical review of the daily surveillance program related to commercial trading activity. Work involves all aspects of deal life cycle with close attention to commercial operational areas. Knowledge of how commercial business happens as well as trading deal life cycle will be critical to applying any interpretative guidance regarding commercial compliance needed to enhance compliance analytics as well as identify any compliance hot spots. Although a large part of day involves managing a suite of analytical reports including any compliance alerts requiring review. It is important to have innovation, qualitative and interpersonal management skills. A large part of the opportunity involves managing a scalable approach to an industrial compliance requirement in a fast-paced environment. One off short sprint project is to be expected. Quantitative analysis (and associated programing) will include identifying data anomalies, patterns, or co-occurrences back to source allowing transactional data enrichment in such a manner as to preserve the origin context. In addition, candidate will be asked to provide advice on the interpretation and relevance of findings to Trading Compliance policies, planned business activities or process changes. Additional responsibilities include ensuring effective remediation of non-compliant situations within assigned areas, maintaining data repository and associated testing of effectiveness.

Work Complexity & Independent Judgement

Works on complex issues and projects. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines tactical approach, resources, schedules, and goals. Works within general guidelines; applies advanced technical knowledge in trading, risk management, compliance, data mining, VBA, analytical forecasting, valuation, and modeling of derivatives to solve moderately complex problems for a function.

Leadership

Manages a single function or portion of a department. Regularly manages large-scale projects/activities or a very closely related set of projects/activities. Owns area of responsibility and exercises a duty of care regarding the work of others requiring feedback. Responsible for performance reviews, promotional decisions, and pay actions for top professionals and management.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree and/or a master’s degree is preferred. Education with minors in computer science and/or classical language is preferred. Previous work leadership or senior level of individual contributor experience. Typically requires minimum of 5 to 10+ years of specializing in energy or financial services preferred. Deep experience in power or natural gas trading, and/or working on a commodities desk may substitute for some of the higher education requirements.

Additional Benefit - Hybrid with On-Site in Houston, TX: Three times a week with Manager approval
