Summary

Join our dynamic team in St. Paul, MN as a Construction Inspector in our thriving Water Business Line As a key player, you will take charge of efficiently executing, and ensuring top-notch quality in our Water projects. Your role involves assessing work elements, materials, design details, and project conditions to provide invaluable recommendations for successfully completing projects. Each assignment demands the application of your independent judgment, establishing you as a recognized subject matter expert in the functional areas of your projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Understands and interprets local, state, and/or federal Standard Specifications and Procedures. Answers questions from the contractor.  Observes and documents the contractor’s work to record that it is being completed in conformance with the plans and specifications, contract documents, and applicable local, state, and/or federal regulatory requirements. Performs quality assurance checks and informs the contractor of the recommended course of action when work or materials are not in compliance with requirements.  Analyzes and uses independent discretion and judgment to resolve work problems, including client, contractor, or public complaints and grievances. Coordinates and attends progress meetings with the client and other key stakeholders. Quickly reacts to complex situations with the client or projects as they arise. Performs material yield checks, verifies tolerances, and elemental thicknesses, measures and quantifies pay item quantities for payment. work.  Be proficient in the use of computers and word processing software (Word, Excel, etc.).  Maintains neat and accurate project documentation (field book notes and measurements, field reports, project binders, photos, etc.) for small projects. Prepares project records for formal audits by funding agencies. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Education and Experience

2- 5 years of related Construction observation experience working with conveyance and treatment plant construction plans is preferred Familiarity with documentation requirements and inspection procedures is preferred. Excellent time management, communication, and technical skills are required.  Must possess knowledge of MS Office suite of products. Basic proficiency in Bluebeam and AutoCAD is preferred. Requires regular travel to and from remote worksites.

  Certificates and Licenses

Must possess certificates or be willing to obtain NASSCO Inspector Training for Cured-in-Place-Pipe; OSHA 40-hour and Confined Space Training. The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be capable of carrying up to 40 pounds of equipment over all types of terrain and in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to transverse on all types of project sites including industrial, commercial, and undeveloped ground.

Must be willing to travel on short- or long-term assignments at client locations to complete assigned work.
