Energy Research Data Hub Project Manageris responsible for leading the development and implementation of a sustainable business model for an energy research data hub, including integration into the necessary current systems under the direction of the Energy, Advancement & Innovation Center (EAIC) Advisory Committee Chair within the EAIC Advisory Committee. This position manages all networking and relationships internal and external to Ohio State University, including building a client base that aligns with the strategic vision of the EAIC.

Partners with energy leaders across multiple higher education institutions to develop software implementation plans catered to the business needs of the institution. Utilizes specialized and highly complex knowledge inartificial intelligence, data mining, data visualization, machine learning andsemantic web, system programming, and additional applications. Effectively partners with theOffice of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) Cloud Services team to develop software forimplementation, including troubleshooting and enhancing software to integrate into research.

Job Functions

Provide leadership and strategic direction for the energy research data hub software implementation and business model.

Manage the product vision, feature prioritization, product requirements, ongoing product roadmap, and release planning process.

Utilizes highly complex knowledge, skills and expertise to identify and prioritize product uses cases and requirements through collaboration and understanding of user and stakeholder needs.

Support business case development, evaluate value drivers, and capture value delivered to the Energy Advancement and Innovation Center.

Serves as a liaison for Ohio State Universitywith other universities across the country, software developers within OTDI and the EAIC Advisory Committee to provide highly specialized knowledge and expertise to collect data required for the development and implementation of customized software systems.

Communicate key deliverables, project milestones, cost and time estimates with the project team, the advisory committee and clients as needed.

Reports regularly to the EAIC Advisory Committee on progress related to the software implementation and future growth opportunities. Works closely with EAIC to identify and set strategic planning.

Works closely with external engineering partners to ensure the project meets end user needs and customize the energy research data hub as needed. Partners with the end users to identify and troubleshoot concerns, utilizingexpertise to develop resolution.

Develops and creates data use policies and programming for Ohio State’s energy data.

  Minimum Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, computer information science, information technology, or a business degree with five years of work experience in technology. 

Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience. 

Demonstrated ability to effectively define and deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs. 

Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and technology required. 

Involvement in some, if not all, aspects of product launches, e.g., development of messaging and positioning, communications planning, testing, training, implementation planning, execution, user documentation 

Demonstrated ability to translate concepts into viable products or business solutions, including experience guiding or personally conducting and analyzing market research for product planning 

Entrepreneurial spirit and creative approach to problem solving as well as strong verbal and written communications skill 

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to relate at all levels 

Ability to effectively work with and influence cross-functional teams to achieve results 
 

Additional Qualifications Desired

Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, computer information science, information technology.

8-12 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge of Agile/Scrum best practices preferred 

8+ years of experience in Product Management 

10+ years of experience in commercial software or IT services
 

Considerable technical knowledge as well as exceptional analytical, communication, and customer service skills in Artificial Intelligence, Data mining, Data Visualization, Machine Learning Semantic Web, System Programming, and additional applications.
