The experts in our Cedars-Sinai Family Planning Program deliver specialized, compassionate care dedicated to the wellbeing of all patients. Our team of doctors, nurses and support staff offers a full range of services. We offer a wide variety of options for heterosexual and same-sex couples and individuals. These options include education and counseling services, as well as screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.
Summary of Essential Duties:
As an LVN you will be responsible to support the OB/GYN Department, including the Prenatal Diagnosis Center, Center for Fertility and Reproductive Medicine, and Center for Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery (CMIGS), with primary responsibility in the CMIGS, with phlebotomy, preparing rooms, chaperoning physicians with ultrasounds, and procedures, setting up procedure rooms, stocking rooms, triaging phone calls, and other duties as needed.
Performs IV therapy/ phlebotomy/ skin tests. Accepts and transcribes MD orders within scope of care. Observes, reports, and documents the effect of preventive, diagnostic, supportive and therapeutic interventions. Monitors and reports diagnostic results. Provides patient instructions regarding patient safety, personal hygiene and procedures/ treatments performed, as well as post discharge preparation in collaboration with the RN. Communicates comprehensive patient care information. Actively participates in unit rounds. Provides and documents patient, family and significant other education, including smoking cessation, pneumococcal vaccination and other patient specific subjects, utilizing effective teaching methods. Escorts patients to appropriate examination/procedure room, prepares patient for physical examination/procedure and setting up of equipment. Improves the accuracy of patient identification: Uses two identifiers (., patient’s name and date of birth for ambulatory care) when obtaining blood sample or administering medication or blood products. Provides clinical assistance to physicians performing procedures in OB/GYN. Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking of medical supplies and linens to par level. Obtain lab results from referring MDs prior to patient’s appointments; chart results in CS-Link and notifies RN or MD as appropriate of any abnormal results. Assist in training of staff, and coordination of care. Complete Outpatient Intake Profiles and update allergies and medications under the supervision of a RN. Assist surgery schedulers and PSRs with appropriate coordination of patient surgery timing.

Graduate of an accredited LVN program requiredLicense/Certification Requirements:
Current, unrestricted California Vocational Nurse (LVN) license required Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required Current IV/Blood Withdrawal certification required Current Citi-Program Institutional Board certification (IRB) for research preferredExperience:
A minimum of 1 year of acute care nursing experience required At least 2 years of clinical experience in Women's Health or a surgical practice preferredCedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
